Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree

Decorating a Christmas tree for the first time in our new house felt incredibly special. I think it also made this place feel more like home than any of the changes we’ve made since moving in. There was just something about that familiar pine scent filling the air as we unpacked much loved ornaments and decorations.

The tree is the biggest we’ve ever had at over 6ft. We pulled on our PJs, dimmed the lights and slipped It’s a Wonderful Life into the Blu-ray player. I made mugs of hot chocolate and filled a plate with mince pies while Mr. LA carefully wound 2 reels of fairly lights around the majestic spruce. The children excitedly adorned its branches with a mixture of cheap decorations from Wilkos, unique etsy finds, and an array of handmade ornaments brought home from school and nursery over the years. They did a marvellous job and only minimal rearranging was required on my part!Oh Christmas Tree

We’ve a wreath on the front door and I’ve wrapped a few presents. I can’t say I’m totally relaxed about hosting 8 guests for Christmas dinner and 15 for a Boxing Day buffet, but now the tree is up I’m definitely beginning to feel a little more festive. How about you?
