  • Waking up to find Jesse and his teddy in my bed.
  • Dozing peacefully.
  • Dragging myself downstairs for tea and more snuggles on the sofa.
  • Still trying to get used to Izzy’s dramatic new haircut.
  • Making the children breakfast and missing Mr. LA.
  • Stealing ten minutes alone in the shower while the children watched a film.
  • Pulling on a pretty dress and thick black tights.
  • Carefully applying my makeup.
  • Chatting to my Mum on the phone.
  • Desperately trying to persuade Jesse to get dressed.
  • Laughing as I overheard Izzy threatening to send her brother ‘to Coventry’ if he didn’t behave. That’ll be the Enid Blyton.
  • Reporting an abandoned car to the local police and feeling like a community superhero.
  • Wrapping up warm and heading to the bus stop.
  • Very much enjoying the winter sunshine.
  • Loving the sight of the children holding hands on the bus.
  • Buying Mr. LA a birthday present.
  • Browsing the shops and wishing I could afford some new clothes.
  • Grabbing a table at Tampopo.
  • Watching the children’s faces light up when their Daddy joined us for lunch.
  • Eating Nasi Goreng and sipping diet coke.
  • Slowly making our way home.
  • Feeling sleepy.
  • Cooking and eating Dalston Sweet Potato Curry.
  • Reading Jesse a story and tucking him into bed.
  • Pouring myself a glass of wine.
  • Leaving Izzy and Mr. LA to watch Lord of the Rings while I did some writing.
  • Feeling nostalgic.
  • Retreating to bed.
  • Reading the first few chapters of Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. So far, so brilliant.
  • Slowly drifting off.
  • Sleeping in.
  • Feeling inexplicably grumpy.
  • Watching Izzy practice blowing bubbles.
  • Luxuriating in the shower.
  • Opting to stay in my PJs all day.
  • Listening to the children play upstairs.
  • Eating soup for lunch.
  • Feeling very smug when I managed to convince Jesse to eat his lunch. My secret? I served his soup in a mug.
  • Seeing Izzy off to her drama class.
  • Frying aubergine and pepper in a little salt and cumin ready to be added to our evening meal.
  • Baking two lemon sponges and sandwiching them together with homemade lemon curd and mascarpone.
  • Letting Jesse lick the bowl. And the spoon. And the Kitchenaid.
  • Drinking tea.
  • Doing laundry.
  • Leaving a huge pot of beans and vegetables to bubble away very slowly on the stove.
  • Squeezing in a little writing while Jesse played happily with his Lego.
  • Slicing avocado, grating cheese and warming tortillas ready for supper.
  • Stirring some spinach through the warm beans.
  • Sitting down to eat.
  • Bathing the children.
  • Reading Miffy aloud.
  • Craving a lazy evening on the sofa with my husband.
