Our morning was a lazy one. Dozing in bed long after Jesse had clambered in and far too much time spent in our pyjamas. Mealtimes passed in a blur. Tea, porridge and toast for breakfast, leftovers for lunch. I could have worked all afternoon, but I wanted to steal some family time while we had the chance as Carl is working away {again} this weekend.
The sun was shining as we walked to the bus stop and for the second or third time this week I felt hopeful for spring. Hopping off in the city centre, Izzy and I left the boys picking up treats for the cinema while we headed to Joules to buy new wellies. After much deliberation, we came away with pink pony print and navy blue fish. I suddenly felt excited for the next run of wet weather. It’s been far too long since I’ve seen my children jumping in puddles.
We smuggled in our snacks and took up our seats to watch The Lego Movie in 3D. The contraband popcorn and Jelly Babies vanished in no time. The film was good and we all laughed out loud on more than one occasion. We treated the children to a trip to the toy shop afterwards and they both came away with more Lego to add to their collection.
Dinner was a simple creamy pasta bake. Nothing fancy, but filling and tasty. The children played while I cooked and miraculously kept the squabbling to a minimum. I managed an hour of work while Carl oversaw bath and bedtime. I have at least another hour of chores to do once I’ve hit publish on this post, and having finished The Good Wife on Netflix last night, I don’t know how I’ll unwind when I’m finally done for the day. Perhaps I’ll fire up my Kindle and fall asleep part way through a good book.

Love the wellies! Really enjoying these daily half term posts, I’m well impressed with your ability to write one every day 🙂
Thanks Susie, glad you’re enjoying them 🙂
I first discovered the Good Wife a few years ago whilst watching catch up to keep me awake during night time feeds. Love it. Was v glad to see series 5 start on more 4!
