- Sleeping in while Carl entertained the children downstairs.
- Finally dragging myself downstairs.
- Drinking tea and eating an omelette.
- Making a start on replacing the bookshelves in Jesse’s room.
- Tidying the garage.
- Hanging the washing to dry outside.
- Doing lots of thinking in the shower.
- Pulling on a pair of jeans and a crisp white t-shirt.
- Enjoying the scent of my new perfume, Ellie Saab’s L’Eau Couture.
- Applying my makeup and blow-drying my hair.
- Hollering at the children to come upstairs and get dressed.
- Pulling on my trainers and heading out into the sunshine.
- Slowly making our way to the park.
- Relishing the fresh air and the warm sun on my skin. Having been cooped up in the house so much since I hurt my foot, it was wonderful to be outside on such a beautiful spring day.
- Snapping photos of the children among the daffodils.
- Chatting to Carl while the kids enjoyed the playground.
- Popping to the supermarket.
- Walking back through the park.
- Baking a lemon meringue layer cake while the children played in the yarden.
- Sitting down for a cup of tea.
- Cooking and eating pork tacos, refried beans {which tasted much better than they looked}, and an epic salad. It was delicious, I highly recomend you try the recipe.
- Putting Jesse to bed and settling down on the sofa next to Izzy.
- Writing a blog post and looking forward to cocktail o’clock.
- Kissing Izzy goodnight and preparing to watch a few episodes of Lost.
- Sipping my drink and nibbling salty sweet popcorn.
- Deciding to retire earlier than normal in an attempt to fend off the inevitable BST tiredness.
- Pretending to snooze as Carl and the children scurried downstairs to organise my Mother’s Day treats and surprises.
- Reading homemade cards and opening thoughtful gifts in bed.
- Enjoying the bunch of brightly coloured tulips given to me by the children.
- Sitting down to a delicious breakfast of scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.
- Feeling very spoilt.
- Watching The Secret Garden followed by my favourite short film, Le Ballon Rouge.
- Drinking coutless cups of tea.
- Deciding to stay in my PJs all day.
- Eating soup for lunch.
- Waving Carl and Izzy off at the door as they headed into town for her drama class.
- Sitting with Jesse while he played with his Lego.
- Pottering. I folded laundry, tidied the kitchen, swept up and daydreamed about our next DIY project.
- Eating buttery hot cross bun loaf and sipping tea in the sunshine outside.
- Filling the house with the scent of roast chicken. Such a comforting aroma.
- Wondering why the house was so quiet all of a sudden.
- Suspecting Jesse was up to no good, but discovering him asleep in his bed. Curse the clocks changing!
- Pausing to watch him sleep a while.
- Finishing off the dinner and waiting for the others to return home.
- Loving the way our home feels on a sunny day.
- Getting a hint of what long, lazy summer evenings wil feel like in Bristol.
- Feeling very content as we sat and ate dinner together.
- Reading Jesse a bedtime story and helping Izzy with her homework.
- Sitting down to write this blog post and looking forward to watching my Mother’s Day present, Saving Mr Banks.

Sounds like a great weekend. I too came home to the smell of roast chicken, it’s such a homely smell.
Hope your toe is heeling.
Saving Mr Banks is such a wonderful film x
Since the time change my little one has been sleeping much longer in the mornings. He used to wake at 6.00 but now that’s been pushed to 8.00… I’m not complaining!
That cake looks delicious!
It sounds like you had a lovely weekend, and a lovely Mother’s Day.
🙂
Oh lucky you! Ours are sleeping a little better, but we really need some blackout blinds in their bedrooms.
