Chicken with 100 cloves of garlic Chicken with 100 cloves of garlic Jesse licking an ice cream

  • Drifting in and out of sleep as the sun came up.
  • Peeking out from beneath the covers when I heard Jesse creeping across the landing towards our bedroom.
  • Leaving Mr L.A. to enjoy his lie-in.
  • Tiptoeing downstairs in a daze.
  • Sleepily sipping tea on the sofa.
  • Squeezing in a little work at my laptop while we waited for the rest of the house to wake up.
  • Making scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast.
  • Agreeing to head out on my own with the kids so Mr L.A. could rest his bad back.
  • Firming up last-minute plans with a friend.
  • Diving into the shower and getting dressed in a hurry.
  • Herding the children out of the house.
  • Hating the rain.
  • Riding the bus into town.
  • Walking along a narrow cobbled street to meet my friend and her family at Bristol Old Vic.
  • Discovering the cafe was closed.
  • Heading elsewhere for lunch.
  • Demolishing Beetroot Gravlax at No.1 Harbourside. This was my first visit and I’ll definitely be going back. It’s a great place to grab an affordable light lunch.
  • Chatting away while the kids entertained themselves.
  • Heading outside and making our way to the Bearpit in the rain.
  • Watching Jesse shimmy and shake to the sound of the band that was playing. It was quite a sight amidst the downpour!
  • Munching on a delicious chocolate brownie from Bearpit Social. Probably the best I’ve had since moving to Bristol actually.
  • Failing to take any photos!
  • Following my friends back to their house for a quick cuppa while the children played.
  • Slowly strolling home with the children.
  • Dashing to the corner shop for supplies.
  • Making my current obsession, carrot, cumin and kidney bean burgers. Such a simple recipe and incredibly cheap to boot.
  • Settling down for a family movie night. We watched The Odd Life of Timothy Green on Netflix and we all enjoyed it immensely. I do love a good kids’ film.
  • Collapsing into bed shortly after the children. I’m a little {a lot} under the weather at the moment and staying up much later than 8.30pm is proving impossible.
  • Waking up as Jesse slid into bed beside me.
  • Trying to figure out what time it was.
  • Listening to the rain hammering against the window.
  • Deciding we didn’t need to venture out after all.
  • Smiling as the children chanted ‘PJ day, PJ day’ with glee.
  • Making a few final tweaks to an upcoming blog post while they watched Up in the background.
  • Sending them upstairs to play while we planned Sunday lunch.
  • Preparing Chicken with 100 Cloves of Garlic.
  • Roasting potatoes and cooking spring greens.
  • Eating too much.
  • Sweating garlic. Probably.
  • Snoozing on the sofa.
  • Taking a long, lazy mid-afternoon shower.
  • Layering on lots of luxurious skincare. Posh lotions and potions remain my biggest vice.
  • Sitting down to do the online shop.
  • Marvelling at how fast the afternoon had flown by.
  • Fixing the children fish finger sandwiches for supper and dunking them into the bath.
  • Wondering what it is about the clocks changing that makes kids crazy.
  • Finally persuading Jesse to stay in bed.
  • Retreating downstairs to pour myself a glass of wine.
  • Hoping I’ve got the energy to survive the Easter holidays.
