My kids have a nasty habit of synchronising their sudden growth spurts. This, combined with the recent dip in temperature, left both of them in desperate need of new clothes.

I love discovering new places to shop for their wardrobe, so an email from UK action sports lifestyle brand, Animal, arrived at just the right time. While I was familiar with the name, I had no idea they offered such a beautiful range of children’s clothing.

As you would expect from a company with close ties to outdoor pursuits like surfing, snowboarding, skateboarding and mountain biking, the collection is incredibly comfy, colourful and hard-wearing. I’m impressed by the quality and the children are in love, especially Izzy who would happily wear her new hoodie all the time!

The children inadvertently road-tested their clothes for comfort and fit during a recent walk through the woods. In case you’re keen to recreate the same look for your little ones, Jesse wore Dusky Jeans with the cosy blue Lamprey shirt while Izzy teamed the gorgeous Ditsy Deer hoodie with a pair of red Mixie Pixie leggings.

As we made our way across Troopers Hill, there was a definite chill in the air and the overcast skies threatened rain repeatedly. We hunted for the last of the autumn leaves, racing across the grass to keep warm. I watched the kids climb trees and cover themselves in mud before finally calling them home.

I make no secret of the fact I loathe this time of year. I’ve had my fill of dark mornings already and the freezing temperatures leave me clinging to the radiator for warmth. I’d happily hibernate until spring, but the children’s enthusiasm for the great outdoors is pretty contagious. Maybe I’d find winter a little easier if I climbed the odd tree every once in a while?!

Animal’s A/W collection is online now and there’s plenty in the way of Christmas gifts and festive treats for men, women and children! After snuggling up to the kids in their new clothes, I’m definitely tempted to ask Santa for a hoodie of my own!
