• Waking up earlier than I would have liked. The children are away in Cornwall for nine days, so I could have had a lie-in. Curse my internal body clock!
  • Sipping tea on the sofa and enjoying the sound of silence.
  • Jumping in the shower.
  • Pulling on skinny jeans and my favourite white shirt.
  • Cleaning the kitchen while Mr L.A. nipped out for a hair cut.
  • Listening to some classic Madonna as I worked.
  • Ironing linen and making up beds for our guests.
  • Filling the boot of a kind friend’s car with stuff for the dump.
  • Steam mopping floors.
  • Preparing a platter of smoked salmon and Delia’s Warm Potato Salad with Lemon and Chive Vinaigrette.
  • Greeting some of our guests at the door.
  • Catching up over a cup of tea.
  • Waiting for Mr L.A.’s little brother to arrive.
  • Chatting to our new neighbours.
  • Finally sitting down to lunch.
  • Opting to stay home while everyone else went shopping.
  • Working my way through Suits on Netflix.
  • Watching the others play Yahtzee.
  • Changing into some smart black trousers.
  • Applying more makeup.
  • Taking an Uber into town.
  • Strolling to Wapping Wharf.
  • Waiting for a table at Bertha’s.
  • Enjoying my first taste of Aperol in a cocktail called ‘Audrey Hepburn’. As if I’d order anything else?!
  • Belatedly toasting my birthday. I turned 34 on the 17th.
  • Tucking into my delicious pizza. The sourdough base was to die for!
  • Wandering down to Wild Beer.
  • Sipping a G&T and laughing a lot.
  • Slowly making our way home.
  • Escaping upstairs to bed while the others carried on drinking.
  • Sleeping in.
  • Creeping downstairs to clear up the kitchen and lay the breakfast table.
  • Eating pain au chocolat and drinking tea.
  • Lounging on the sofa in my PJs.
  • Watching old episodes of Modern Family.
  • Missing the children.
  • Popping to Ikea to pick up a few new plant babies.
  • Resisting the urge to buy much more than I did.
  • Rustling up a quick batch of my favourite chocolate brownies.
  • Making Jamie Oliver’s Trapani-Style Rigatoni for lunch.
  • Eating too much.
  • Saying goodbye to our guests.
  • Putting a load of laundry on.
  • Pulling on clean PJs.
  • Collapsing on our bed.
  • Narrowly avoiding a disaster nap.
  • Tapping away at my laptop.
  • Planning a very lazy evening, a hot bath and an early night.
  • Hoping for a gentle, but productive week ahead.
