One of the many reasons I could never be a fully fledged fashion blogger is that nothing on this earth can persuade me to part with my winter coat unless I’m safely tucked behind closed doors and enveloped in the comforting warmth of a central heating system.
As much as I admire the pros, the first thing I think when I see them cavorting outside in a mere slip of a dress during the height of winter is that they’ll catch their death wearing clothes like that!
At least my reluctance to disrobe gives you a true picture of how I dress for cold weather. If the ground is covered in frost and you’re forced to spend a large proportion of the day in layer upon layer of winter clothing, a few carefully chosen accessories can make all the difference.

I’m rarely without my wool coat, an investment purchase from Hobbs a few years ago. I still love its classic shape and, for a high street piece, the quality is hard to beat. I’d love something similar in navy.
Blanket scarves may have become rather ubiquitous, but gosh aren’t they cosy? Those boots have barely been off my feet since the cold weather hit. Although I had to endure a painful breaking in period, the leather is now beautifully soft and incredibly comfy. I’m hoping for many happy winters together before they need replacing.
For me, the real star of the show is my new Clerkenwell handbag from Radley {c/o}. It is, without doubt, the most beautiful bag I’ve ever owned. I love the dark green leather, its handy shoulder strap and the multitude of pockets, both inside and out.
As it’s currently reduced in the sale, I suggest you scoot over to the website toot sweet! So smitten am I with this piece, I plan to purchase the same style in a lighter colour for summer.
What clothes and accessories would you rather not be without in winter?

This is such an effortlessly chic look! I love big, chunky scarves -they’re my favorite accessory for winter. Minnesota this time of year pretty much demands that I wear at least a scarf with my coat. I’m usually pulling my gloves on at the stop lights on my way to dropping my daughter at school. If I’ve planned ahead (and am not running late/have to dig my car out from a foot of snow), then I’ll add a hat. The end result is that my kid & I usually look like the little brother in A Christmas Story -so bundled up that we can’t even put our arms down, haha!
Thank you Rachel! That image of you bundled up really made me smile! You must think I’m a big wimp for complaining about the cold, the UK doesn’t see anything like the temps you do in Minnesota! Digging a car out of the snow sounds a lot harder than scraping a bit of ice off the windscreen!

Fab post Franky, and gorgeous piccies. Love the coat, scarf and boot ensemble, but you do look as though you needed a hat on such a chilly day! I have a treasured Radley bag. I always wanted a red handbag and my lovely Mr R surprised me one birthday with one. I keep it in its dust bag and it comes out about twice a year!
As I spend what seems like hours on a freezing playground, I can’t be without a thick coat, gloves, hat and trainers for running after the little girl I 1:1 with who thinks it’s fun to run across our school muddy field !
You’re probably right, a hat would have helped! Love the sound of your red Radley bag, might put that on my wish list too!
