In the six months since we bought our new house, I’ve only managed to buy one new frock {a panic buy ahead of a big work event} and a pair of ballet pumps {to replace the pair I wore a hole in}. Such meagre spoils hardly represent a dedication to fashion, do they now? The trouble is, shoe shopping is out in favour of buying DIY supplies and I can’t justify a pretty dress while I’m saving for a posh new coffee table. Sometimes being a grown up sucks.

That said, I’m determined to inject some new life into my wardrobe over the next few weeks. I’m tired of wearing the same old outfits and if I really must spend my evenings and weekends in paint splattered overalls, then surely I can at least feel pretty the rest of the time.

What I really need is a new pair of jeans, but shopping for figure hugging denim isn’t really my idea of fun, so I’m going to stick to dresses. Here’s my current wish list…

Clockwise from top left :-

Lucky Leaves Shirt Dress by French Connection ~ I always spy something I want in French Connection and right now I’m loving the slightly tropical feel of this dress. It’s the perfect antidote to winter’s doom and gloom.

Blue Tiny Butterfly Dress by Hobbs NW3 ~ That softly draping neckline and nipped in waist is crying out to be worn with my favourite tan coloured belt and some comfy brogues. This is my idea of perfect school run attire as you’ll look put together without even trying.

Jackina 3/4 Sleeve Printed Dress by LK Bennett ~ Wishful thinking. I certainly don’t have almost £300 to throw at new frock, but if I did, I’d be snapping this beauty up without a moment’s hesitation. I’m a sucker for polka dots.

Rosa Print Dress by Oliver Bonas ~ I like this. It’s floral, but not twee, and the chevrons keep it looking fresh. The floaty layers are downright pretty too.
