Before we lose ourselves in the fashion from last night’s red carpet, let’s talk about midi skirts. My days of flashing acres of thigh are long gone, and unlike the ladies lucky enough to attend the Oscars, I have little call for a floor-sweeping hemline.
Midi is my skirt length of choice and has been for some time. Right now I appear to be accidentally ‘bang on trend’ as the high street is suddenly overflowing with my favourite style. I’ve picked four favourites that I think deserve a place in my wardrobe, and by association, yours too…
Clockwise from top left :-
Tropez Print Flared Skirt by LK Bennett ~ Oh this skirt is perfect! Perfectly expensive too, but let’s pretend money is no object, just for second. This ticks so many boxes for me. The print, the length, the cut, the pockets; I’d wear it to death. There’s something a little Grace Kelly about it, don’t you think?
Moto Denim Midi Skirt by Topshop ~ I like the subtle nod to the 1970s that emanates from this skirt. I can imagine it working all year round, with thick tights and boots in the winter and bare legs and sandals in the summer. It definitely has the potential to be a true wardrobe staple.
Vienna Flamingo Feather Full Skirt by Whistles ~ I probably won’t stop dreaming about this skirt until I’ve made it my own. I want to wear it with sandals and a soft grey sweater. I’d pair it with a crisp white shirt and vertiginous heels too. Maybe I’d throw on a statement necklace for good measure. Either way, it would never be anything but fabulous.
Black Justine Skirt by Hobbs ~ I am always searching for the holy grail of full black skirts. I’d need to have a twirl in a changing room before I could say for certain, but this is a definite contender. Hobbs do midi really well {my favourite skirt in the whole world also hails from the store} and I’m equally tempted by the Yellow Lisa Skirt from the NW3 range.

I LOVE the Whitles Flamingo skirt!! Such an eye-catching beauty!!
I have also got a bit of a thing for the Midi, but haven’t managed to transition that many into my wardrobe yet. I love them on other people but haven’t quite found the perfect one(s) for me. I intend to continue the search at full steam ahead now though 🙂 ASOS also have some lovely ones at the moment, I want them all http://www.asos.com/women/skirts/cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=2639&via=top#state=Rf936%3D2369&parentID=Rf936&pge=0&pgeSize=36&sort=-1 xxx
I too love the midi skirt. I like it because it creates such an elegant silhouette. The Whistles skirt is also on my list.
