- Sleeping in. Much needed after a week of working in the wee small hours before the children emerge from their beds.
- Feeling a little under the weather. Sore throat, headache, temperature. Not fun.
- Drinking tea and devouring bacon and eggs for breakfast.
- Packing. With a bit of luck we’ll be exchanging contracts within the next week, so I’ve made a start on anything non-essential.
- Clearing the cupboard under the stairs {i.e. my husband’s DIY dumping ground}.
- Being very grown up and buying a proper tool box. ‘I feel like my dad’ said Mr. LA. Hoorah for being able to find a screw driver when we need one!
- Removing all the pictures and art from the walls and wrapping them carefully in bubble wrap. Suddenly the house looks terribly bare.
- Sorting through our books and placing them in boxes. We’re not sure when we’ll see them again as the new house doesn’t contain a single shelf!
- Daydreaming about colour schemes and paint swatches.
- Eating toasted tuna melts for lunch.
- Listening to the children roar with laughter as they played happily upstairs.
- Emptying the shelves of CDs.
- Enjoying long forgotten albums as I slowly filled the packing boxes.
- Marvelling at our eclectic music collection.
- Drinking diet coke and snacking on a giant chocolate cookie.
- Tucking into fish tacos for supper.
- Falling in love with this house tour.
- Considering the merits of black wall paper in our future master bedroom. Thoughts?
- Scouring Ebay for an old printer’s tray for Izzy’s new bedroom. It strikes me as being the perfect vessel from which to display her sizeable collection of Moshi Monsters.
- Settling down in front of Watchmen with a beer.
- Loving the film, but needing my bed. We’ll finish it another night.
- Snuggling with Jesse for a while.
- Stealing a little more sleep.
- Deciding to stay in my PJs. Sometimes you just need a lazy day.
- Grabbing a quick breakfast before more packing.
- Sending Mr. LA out to buy the Sunday paper. I’d love to pretend I’m terribly cultural and read the thing from cover to cover, but I actually just wanted it to wrap my crockery!
- Setting the children up with some playdough and listening to them excitedly discuss their creations.
- Trying to pick out a new dining table.
- Failing to pick out a new dining table. Do we go for something vintage, or just take the easy Ikea option? I’m a little bit in love with this, but I keep thinking I’ll find something cheaper. Decisions, decisions!
- Watching Spirited Away. The children were mildly terrified. I love Ghibli.
- Roasting a chicken with lemon and garlic.
- Preparing braised little gems and buttery new potatoes.
- Eating too much.
- Running the children a bath.
- Hanging wet washing out to dry.
- Not being able to shake the feeling that the evening had an air of autumn about it.
- Sitting at my laptop to write while Izzy reads Black Beauty and dreams of owning her own horse.

Wow, sounds like you’ve been so busy!! Sorry you’re feeling a bit under the weather, think there are a few things going around at the moment. I agree about it feeling autumnal at the moment- but at least we had at least SOME summer this year! 🙂 xx
Loving your blog, been so busy lately, I miss my blog reading.
P.S I love that table !!
Not sure about the black wallpaper in the bedroom, love…
What, not even a feature wall?! Perhaps you’re right, although Carl and his inner teenage goth would love it.

I like the tin topped table! It lends itself to lots of styles, so you can change the chairs and accessories as your taste evolves.
As to the dark wallpaper, I have to say I’m pretty obsessed with the bedroom below in the link. I’m more of a light and airy person, but this dark bedroom is so cozy and I especially love the gold leaf bed stand!!

It’s like this post is about my life too! 🙂 I feel like all we do these days are pack & pack & pack. It’s crazy hard to believe the amount of crap a family can collect in such a short amount of time. Good luck with your move! I hope it goes smoothly!
We moved house just 5 weeks ago and packing is already a distant memory – being in our new home was so worth the effort 🙂
(although thats easy for me to say when its just Mr E, me and the Cheeseburger, can’t even begin to imagine how much tougher it is with kids!)
Oh and I say don’t buy anything until you’ve lived in the new place for a few weeks! x
