- Being woken by a knock at the door. I mean, who books their Ocado delivery for 6.30am on a Saturday?!
- Drinking tea and lounging on the sofa with the children.
- Eating a fried egg sandwich for breakfast.
- Grabbing a quick shower.
- Coaxing the children into their clothes.
- Slipping on a warm winter dress and thick black tights.
- Packing a picnic.
- Heading into town on the bus.
- Cursing the wet weather.
- Enjoying the children’s excitement ahead of our visit to @t Bristol Science Centre.
- Stowing our coats and bags in a locker and following Izzy and Jesse as they darted off towards the exhibitions.
- Watching as they pressed buttons, tried strange experiments, blew giant bubbles, built Lego houses and much, much more.
- Pausing to eat lunch at the indoor picnic area.
- Taking a million photos of Izzy amidst a light installation next to The Planetarium.
- Resolving to become a member so we can visit again and again.
- Slowly making our way home.
- Looking on as Jesse dozed in his seat.
- Relishing the warmth of our home as we peeled off our damp outerwear.
- Savouring a hot cup of tea and trying to muster the energy to make supper.
- Cooking and eating Asian Salmon with Noodle Broth.
- Overseeing the children in the shower.
- Reading Jesse a bedtime story.
- Working with Izzy on her holiday homework.
- Munching chocolate buttons.
- Giving goodnight kisses.
- Sipping a Cointreapolitan {or three} and settling down to watch Sightseers, a hilarious black comedy. I really enjoyed it.
- Nibbling leftover M&S party food from New Years Eve.
- Climbing into bed and reading until I couldn’t keep my eyes open.
- Sleeping in.
- Drinking multiple cups of tea and enjoying another cooked breakfast.
- Luxuriating in the shower.
- Pulling on my painting clothes and working on a project in the garage. I’m making over an old Ikea toy box for Jesse.
- Inhaling the comforting scent of clementines simmering away on the stove.
- Sitting down for a light lunch.
- Blitzing the softened citrus fruit in the magimix before adding them to my cake batter. Nigella’s Clementine Cake tastes amazing and it’s such a simple recipe, I urge you to try it.
- Mixing up a batch of lemon curd. I find this incredibly relaxing to make. There’s something so satisfying about it coming together before your eyes, all thick and custard-like.
- Listening to the children squabble over who would play who in their imaginary game.
- Sitting quietly to write while they watched a film.
- Pottering in the garage again.
- Making a huge plate of broccoli pasta.
- Throwing together a chopped salad to serve alongside.
- Delivering the food to the table with a smile while knowing full well that Jesse wouldn’t eat a bite.
- Doing my best to ignore the ensuing tantrum.
- Devouring a slice of cake.
- Feeling full.
- Putting the children to bed.
- Looking forward to the last day of the holidays and the subsequent return to some semblance of normality.

Sounds like a wonderful weekend despite the dreadful weather! I’m glad you all enjoyed @Bristol–it’s one of our favourite places to go, even if it is a little on the spendy side.
It felt expensive when I paid for the tickets, but I was impressed by how long it kept the kids interested. We were there for almost 4 hrs, which is pretty good going when you’re with a 4yr old! I also felt like we could go again and still find new things to look at. I’m definitely going to invest in an annual membership as I think we’d get plenty of use out of it.

Your weekends always sound so lovely – and your children are beautiful <3
Thank you Vivienne 🙂
Oh so glad you saw Sightseers! One of my faves but no one has ever heard of it. The acting is stupendous!
I am desperate to get the kids to @Bristol so will have to have a natter soon about it x
COME AND VISIT! COME AND VISIT! The museum was amazing, the girls would love it.

Sightseers is hilarious! Really stupidly cringe worthy by the end 🙂
That broccoli pasta looks delish. We’re having a real issue with Leanora not eating her meals at the moment. It can be quite depressing after you’ve made something nice for her to push it away with ‘don’t like that’ before she’s even tried it!
My Eska wore that Joules top today 🙂 xxx
The food thing is exhausting. I find it particularly frustrating as Jesse was such a good eater as a baby. Not fussy at all. Then he developed terrible allergies which put him in hospital a few times. Although he grew out of them, his eating habits have never been the same. I try to be as laid back as possible and I never offer alternatives, but I do long for mealtimes without tantrums! Oh well!
What stylish little girls we have, I love the kidswear from Joules!
