Patisserie Valerie

  • Waking up to find Jesse snuggling next to me in bed.
  • Slowly making my way downstairs.
  • Sipping tea and watching cartoons on the sofa with the children.
  • Wolfing down a bowl of porridge for breakfast.
  • Sitting down to finish my Saturday Short.
  • Hitting publish and jumping in the shower.
  • Pulling on my beloved leopard print skirt from Zara.
  • Carefully applying my makeup and blow drying my hair.
  • Helping the children into their clothes.
  • Feeling quite taken aback by how grown up Izzy looked in red jeans and her new denim jacket.
  • Bundling up against the cold and making our way into town.
  • Grabbing a quick lunch.
  • Waiting patiently outside the Odeon for Izzy’s friends to arrive.
  • Loading up on popcorn and fizzy drinks before making our way into the auditorium to watch Mr Peabody and Sherman.
  • Enjoying the sight of Izzy smiling and laughing with her friends.
  • Heading out into the wintry sunshine.
  • Walking the girls to Patisserie Valerie for drinks and dessert.
  • Demolishing a chocolate eclair.
  • Watching Izzy devour a huge slice of double chocolate gateaux.
  • Taking the girls to a nearby toy shop and treating them all to a Moshi Monster.
  • Returning Izzy’s friends to their respective parents and making our way home.
  • Fighting a wave of exhaustion with a cup of tea and a quick sit down before making dinner.
  • Brushing king prawns with teriyaki sauce and steaming pak choi to make four restorative bowls of inauthentic seafood ramen. Delicious.
  • Listening to Jesse read and kissing him goodnight.
  • Leaving Izzy and her father downstairs watching The Hobbit while I lounged in bed with Netflix and a glass of wine.
  • Binge watching more of The Good Wife. I’m hooked.
  • Lazily texting Mr. LA when I needed a refill.
  • Deciding those mixed bags of salty and sweet popcorn are probably the best invention ever.
  • Finally falling asleep.
  • Being woken up too early.
  • Dozing with Jesse in my arms.
  • Eventually dragging myself downstairs.
  • Eating scrambled eggs for breakfast.
  • Frantically tidying the kitchen and cleaning the bathroom.
  • Catching up on laundry.
  • Diving into the shower before getting dressed.
  • Coaxing the children into their clothes.
  • Greeting my parents as they arrived.
  • Drinking tea and eating biscuits.
  • Driving into town for lunch.
  • Relishing the sunshine and blue skies.
  • Eating an enormous plate of fish and chips at Giraffe.
  • Watching Jesse tuck into a hot dog as big as his head.
  • Feeling too full for dessert.
  • Killing time in House of Fraser.
  • Compiling a mental wish list in Oasis. I’ve got my eye on this and this.
  • Making our way home.
  • Enjoying one more cup of tea with my parents before they departed.
  • Saying our goodbyes.
  • Pottering. I tidied our bedroom, vacuumed the stairs, organised my makeup and started writing a shopping list.
  • Preparing tuna arrabbiata for supper.
  • Warming garlic bread in the oven.
  • Doing my best to ignore Jesse’s tantrum at the dinner table.
  • Eating too much.
  • Dunking the children into the bath.
  • Reading Jesse a bedtime story. He was completely mesmerised by Dr Seuss’ Oh The Places You’ll Go.
  • Longing for my pyjamas.
  • Helping Izzy with her homework.
  • Feeling sleepy.
  • Realising I hardly took any photos this weekend. I guess I was just too busy living life to document it.
  • Desperately needing an early night.
