- Waking to the sound of Jesse whispering ‘is it the weekend or a school day Mummy?’
- Dragging myself downstairs for a cup of tea and some cuddles on the sofa.
- Mixing up batter and frying fluffy corn and chilli pancakes for breakfast.
- Nagging the children to tidy their bedrooms.
- Running the vacuum around.
- Cleaning the bathroom.
- Kissing Mr. LA goodbye.
- Wishing he wasn’t working away {again}.
- Popping a facemask on while I did a few chores. Multi-tasking at its best.
- Taking a quick shower.
- Pulling on my clothes and beginning to apply my makeup.
- Wandering into our bedroom to open the blinds.
- Spotting my neighbour across the road collapsed just inside his front door.
- Dashing out of the house to make sure he was alright.
- Dialling 999 and waiting with him until the ambulance arrived.
- Trying not to panic as I wandered into his home to find a blanket for him.
- Attempting to lighten the mood with a joke about getting to know your neighbours.
- Feeling relieved as I heard the siren approaching.
- Heading back inside and doing my best to calm down. Adrenaline is a funny thing.
- Hurriedly feeding the children their lunch and delivering Izzy to a birthday party.
- Drinking tea and catching up on laundry.
- Greeting my friend Emily and her children, Jack and Anna, as they arrived for a sleepover.
- Chatting downstairs while the children played.
- Enjoying the sound of their fun and games.
- Taking delivery of our alcove cupboards and shelving. We’ve got a week to paint it all before the carpenter comes back to install it.
- Welcoming Izzy home.
- Cooking and eating macaroni cheese.
- Making beds and running a bath.
- Watching Emily read the youngest two a bedtime story.
- Creeping downstairs and wondering how long it would be until they all fell asleep.
- Tidying up, pouring drinks and picking a movie.
- Feeling distinctly underwhelmed by Eat, Pray, Love. Is the book better than the film?
- Pausing intermittently to check on the children and order them to sleep.
- Retiring to bed ourselves.
- Waking to find everyone under the covers with Emily downstairs.
- Brewing tea and making scrambled eggs for breakfast.
- Deciding to hurry ourselves along when we discovered how good the weather forecast was for today.
- Stepping out into glorious winter sunshine and slowly making our way to the park.
- Watching the children play happily.
- Relishing the sight of them peeling off their winter coats and running around with abandon.
- Coaxing the children home with the promise of chocolate biscuits.
- Drinking tea and dunking chocolate digestives.
- Warming soup and buttering bread rolls.
- Saying our goodbyes.
- Clearing up and collapsing on the sofa.
- Feeling very sleepy.
- Whiling away the afternoon doing nothing much at all.
- Longing for the children’s bedtime. They took tired and grumpy to a whole new level.
- Serving up broccoli quiche, salad and sweetcorn for their supper.
- Looking on as they reluctantly tidied their toys away before bed.
- Dunking them both in the bath and helping them into their PJs.
- Reading Jesse a bedtime story and kissing him goodnight.
- Tapping away on my laptop while Izzy watches cartoons nearby.
- Looking forward to pizza with Mr. LA when he finally gets home.
