- Waking up as Jesse slid into bed with us.
- Longing for a little more sleep.
- Reluctantly heading downstairs.
- Sipping tea on the sofa.
- Making porridge for the children’s breakfast.
- Tucking into a fried egg sandwich.
- Agonising over the final layout for our family photo gallery wall.
- Spending almost three hours hanging pictures.
- Stepping back to admire our handiwork.
- Shedding a few happy tears. I hadn’t realised just how much I missed having a photograph of my dad on display.
- Heating up leftovers for lunch.
- Jumping in the shower.
- Pulling on my {current} favourite polka dot dress.
- Applying copious amounts of eye-liner.
- Slowly walking through the park.
- Relishing the winter sunshine.
- Popping inside a nearby church to browse their Christmas craft fair.
- Treating the children to a bag of roasted chestnuts from a stall outside our local greengrocers.
- Munching away on them as we wandered back through the park.
- Pausing to visit the playground.
- Looking on as the children spun each other round on the roundabout.
- Snapping photos amidst fallen leaves in the glorious golden light.
- Retreating back to the house for steaming mugs of hot chocolate and a quick snooze on the sofa.
- Preparing a vegetarian version of a sausage and cider casserole. Perfect winter fare.
- Waving off Mr. LA as he headed out to an industry thing.
- Sitting down to dinner with the kids.
- Reading Jesse a story and tucking him into bed.
- Watching the end of Miss Potter with Izzy. I’ll admit the film is pretty awful, but I loved seeing my little girl so enthralled by the story.
- Pouring myself a glass of wine and snacking on maltesers.
- Sending Izzy to bed and settling down to an evening of back-to-back 90s rom coms.
- Waiting up for Mr. LA.
- Drifting off to sleep a little after midnight.
- Trying to ignore Jesse when came in around 7am.
- Giving up and heading downstairs.
- Sleepily nursing a mug of tea while the children watched The Wizard of Oz.
- Eating scrambled egg on toast.
- Lingering in the shower.
- Slipping on a pair of clean pyjamas.
- Helping the children fill our new bird feeders with peanuts and suet balls.
- Smiling as my tiny twitchers parked themselves beside the window, their binoculars poised in anticipation, desperate to catch a glimpse of the birds that will surely flock to our garden as soon as word gets out.
- Tucking into a fish finger sandwich for lunch.
- Seeing Izzy off as she headed to her drama class with her dad.
- Filling the freezer with mince pies. Nigella’s star-topped to be precise.
- Plotting and planning food and drink for a festive gathering we’re having in a few weeks.
- Sorting laundry and washing uniform.
- Joining Jesse in a game of Kerplunk.
- Snuggling on the sofa for a while.
- Making roast potatoes to accompany pie and a mountain of green veg.
- Delivering the meal to the table just as the others arrived.
- Drowning my food in gravy.
- Eating too much.
- Coaxing the children into their PJs.
- Reading bedtime stories and giving good night kisses.
- Craving an early night.
- Planning to park myself on the sofa for the rest of the evening.

I love that you still religiously write these weekend posts. It’s such a warm and cosy tradition, I feel like I still know what’s going on and that you’re happy 🙂 Even for those who don’t know you personally, I’m sure it’s such a lovely thing xxx
Thank you Laura, such a lovely comment to read. I can’t quite believe I’ve kept the series going for so long! Almost 5 years now I think! xxx
I haven’t commented for a while but read every week, I love reading about your weekends they always seem much more glamourous than mine.
Love your family photo wall, we’re planning one too with photos from both our sides dating back to the late 1800’s! My favourite though my Grans stylish 1920’s wedding photo! You’ve got me itching to get it done now!
E xx
Thank you Emma, it makes me so happy that people really enjoy these posts as I truly love writing them.
Your gallery wall sounds wonderful! My mum has many old family photos on display in her home. I’m planning another wall of wedding photos {on the right hand side of the bathroom door pictured above}. There’ll be some of my grandparents included, as well as a few favourites from our own wedding!

Ahh thank you Marlene, I’m so glad you enjoy the series 😀
Your gallery wall turned out really great – I love the way you figured out the layout too. Having pictures of loved ones adorning the walls is always a treasure.
Enjoy the winter sunshine followed by mugs of hot chocolate – prefect way to spend a couple of hours on the weekend.
🙂
Thank you Jade. I hope you’re making the most of winter too. xxx
