• Sending Jesse back to bed when he woke up before 7am. I’m still amazed this actually worked and we all got an extra 45 minutes of sleep.
  • Dragging myself downstairs for a cup of tea.
  • Snuggling beneath a blanket on the sofa.
  • Watching Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
  • Sensing Mr L.A.’s pride as Jesse quoted parts of the script.
  • Eating fried eggs on buttery toasted bagels.
  • Smothering my locks in Marilyn Hair Treatment. This is fast becoming a weekly ritual and my hair is thrilled.
  • Sorting laundry and working through a list of long-overdue chores.
  • Baking Chocolate Banana Loaf.
  • Jumping in the shower to rinse my hair and lather up with a little Olive Branch.
  • Pulling on skinny jeans, a grey vest and my favourite navy sweater.
  • Applying makeup and blow drying my hair.
  • Loving my new Wet Brush Paddle.
  • Curling up in an armchair while we waited for our visitors to arrive.
  • Sipping tea and eating cake with my sister-in-law and her two boys.
  • Waving them off at the door as they continued on to Cornwall.
  • Eating beans on toast for lunch.
  • Squeezing in a little work while Mr L.A. took Jesse out for a walk.
  • Watching Izzy listen to Nirvana while she did her homework.
  • Discussing plaid shirts {hers is rarely off her back}, DMs and 90s grunge.
  • Enjoying the caramel donut the boys brought back from the supermarket.
  • Making a start on dinner while Mr L.A. and the children played their inaugural game of Castle Panic*. They gave it a huge thumbs up.
  • Cooking and eating Red Thai Salmon Curry.
  • Putting Jesse to bed.
  • Watching Gilmore Girls with Izzy.
  • Saying goodnight.
  • Getting ready for an evening on the sofa.
  • Pouring myself a G&T.
  • Watching, and loving, Trumbo. I highly recommend it.
  • Collapsing into bed.
  • Longing for a little more sleep.
  • Heading downstairs to join the others on the sofa.
  • Feeling exhausted.
  • Tucking into honey on toast for breakfast.
  • Drinking endless cups of tea.
  • Dealing with a tweenage tantrum.
  • Feeling nostalgic for the parenting days of yore. The ‘terrible twos’ is beginning to feel like a walk in the park.
  • Saying goodbye to Mr L.A. and the children.
  • Preparing for a quiet day of writing.
  • Pausing to reheat leftovers for lunch.
  • Resting on the sofa.
  • Writing some more.
  • Watching Gilmore Girls.
  • Ironing school shirts.
  • Chopping onions, garlic, chilli and tomatoes to make the sauce for this Romanesco Cauliflower and Tomato Bake.
  • Slipping jacket potatoes into the oven along with some chunks of Crown Prince squash smothered in olive oil and dusted with paprika.
  • Welcoming the others home at the door.
  • Serving dinner and sitting down to eat.
  • Relaxing on the sofa.
  • Listening to Mr L.A. put Jesse to bed.
  • Tapping away at my laptop while Izzy finishes her history homework.
  • Craving a bubble bath and an early night.
