• Sleeping in. British Summer Time means Jesse is finally staying in bed later than 6am.
  • Heading downstairs for a cup of tea.
  • Reflecting on the fact exactly one year has passed since I was admitted to hospital with a combination of flu and a bacterial infection.
  • Thinking about what life was like before I had CFS.
  • Eating scrambled eggs for breakfast.
  • Deep conditioning my locks with Lush’s Marilyn Hair Treatment.
  • Jumping in the shower.
  • Pulling on skinny black trousers and a sweater.
  • Blow drying my hair and applying my makeup.
  • Saying goodbye to Mr L.A. and the kids.
  • Rushing to the bus stop.

  • Saying goodbye before strolling back towards the bus stop.
  • Deciding to take the long way home via Queen Square and Castle Park.
  • Walking slowly, admiring the bright blue sky above me and feeling very lucky to be alive.
  • Arriving home to find Mr L.A. and Izzy working hard on her homework. She had to build a medieval castle out of biscuits. As you do.
  • Eating smashed avocado on toast for lunch.
  • Resting on the sofa.
  • Listening to the boys play Pokemon.
  • Loosely following this recipe to make a veggie sausage hotpot for dinner.

  • Making our way to St George’s Park for the BS5 Market.
  • Popping into the playground on the way.
  • Sampling pickles and chutney from Bristol Jam Plan, a community project that turns donated surplus produce into delicious preserves with proceeds from any sales going to local charities. We brought a jar of Bristol Pickle and some Wild Garlic and Nettle Pesto home with us.
  • Waiting for Mr L.A. to pick out a jar of something tasty from Ginger Beard’s Preserves.
  • Treating myself to a miniature bottle of Pump Up the Jam, a raspberry gin from Espensen Spirit. I’m sipping it as I type and it’s delicious.
  • Buying chocolate brownies from Cake Sisters Bristol.
  • Treating the boys to a salt beef sandwich from Little Wild Catering.
  • Wandering home in the sunshine.
  • Pausing beneath the branches of every tree laden with blossom.
  • Filling my iPhone with photos.
  • Drinking tea and eating our brownies.
  • Sorting laundry.
  • Tidying the yarden.
  • Eating pasta with Jam Plan pesto for lunch.
  • Watching Mr L.A. drill a couple of holes for my hanging basket. It’s filled with last years strawberry plants and the green shoots look very promising.
