Way back in February, just before I fell ill, I was invited to attend a fabulous blogger event hosted by personalised gifting company, I Just Love It.
Held at La Cucina Caldesi, an open-plan, Italian-style kitchen in central London, we spent the evening making pizzas under the watchful eye of chef Steffano Borella. It was seriously good fun and a great introduction to the brand.
Steffano began by showing us how to make the dough from scratch and then how to turn that dough into a pizza base. We soon realised that pizza making wasn’t quite as easy as it looked when we were all given the opportunity to have a go at stretching and shaping our own.
After applying a thin layer of tomato sauce, we added toppings of our choice from a range of delicious fresh ingredients.
Slipping my culinary masterpiece into the fiery, hot oven with the pizza peel was definitely the most challenging part of the evening, but I persevered. Less than ten minutes later, Steffano was tossing rocket and parmesan on to my freshly baked pizza.
A quick drizzle of extra virgin olive oil and I was finally allowed to tuck in! I don’t mind telling you that I was pretty impressed with my first attempt, and along with a rather nice glass of red wine, it didn’t last very long at all.
At the end of the night, each of us left with an amazing goodie bag packed full of treats from I Just Love It. The online store is brimming with unique gifts, many of which can be personalised to make them even more special. My favourite, the personalised silver plated vintage teaspoon, is pictured above, but I also fell for these personalised pencils and my very own pizza plate in a pretty big way.
You can see photos from the event itself over on the IJLI blog here. Sarah, who I enjoyed chatting with for much of the evening, also put together a great post with some of her own photos here.
Thanks so much for having me I Just Love It!
