It may have become abundantly clear to many of you by now that I’m rather fond of expensive skincare. It’s not that I totally discount budget ranges. In fact there are a few drugstore products that regularly feature in my routine. It’s just that there is something incredibly luxurious about reaching for a beautiful bottle or pot and applying a wonderfully scented lotion or potion to ones face and neck twice a day.
Well… this has to be one of the most decadent items to ever appear in my skincare routine. I have forked out £28 for this bottle of toner…. twice.
Yes, I’m on my 2nd bottle. I repurchased.
It must be good I hear you cry!
I first heard about this product in a skincare video by Lollipop26. In December of last year my skin went a little crazy on me. It was breaking out and there were some decidedly unattractive dry, flaky patches thrown in for good measure too. Laura had raved about this product so much that I thought it might be worth a try. I used the Super Aqua Lotion alongside a very gentle cleansing milk from La Roche Posay and the results were fabulous.
For reference, I have combination skin. It’s sensitive, has a tendency towards hormonal breakouts and is also prone to dehydration (which, in turn, usually causes more spots).
Geee… I bet you sooooo want my skin now, don’t you?! Sounds luverly!
Unlike my skin, this toner is gorgeous. It has a delicious rose scent and it is incredibly hydrating but not heavy. It’s rich in precisely the right way for my skin, almost like a serum. I use the toner after I cleanse in the morning and it immediately removes that feeling of tightness that I get no matter what I wash my face with. I’ve also used this in the evening in place of night cream with fabulous results. I really love the way my complexion looks after I use this product, very healthy with just the right amount of glow. The ladies over at MUA are inclined to agree with me too.
Although the packaging is quite bulky and takes up far too much room in my wash bag whenever I have to travel with it, I must admit I really like the blue and gold bottle. So much so that I’m tempted to try some other Guerlain skincare just so I can have an array of blue and gold bottles on my bathroom shelf. Sad huh? The hygienic pump bottle makes it easy to dispense the right amount (although, it would be nice if you could spritz this product over your face, that would be a wonderful way to use it in the summer). Furthermore, the chunky gold lid has become one of baby Jesse’s favourite toys (read: means of distraction so mummy can apply her make-up of a morning).
Guerlain skincare is certainly not cheap. I picked up my first bottle in early December and it only ran out last week. That’s almost 5 months of use. I can live with that. I imagine I’ll continue to repurchase this for as long as I can afford it (or until the product junkie within demands I try something different).
So, if you have some money to burn and you’re in the market for a wonderfully hydrating toner then get thee to your nearest Guerlain counter. Tootsweet. And if you have tried any other products from this brand I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Sounds really lovely, but oh, so expensive… 😉 xxx
@Rocaille I know, I felt guilty for a second but then I thought ‘well, you only get one face’!!
