Regular readers of my weekend series may have noticed we go all out at breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. It’s a meal we like to savour, and I’m always on the lookout for new and exciting recipes that will feel like a real treat when we all sit down in our PJs to share the most important meal of the day.
As I’m sure some of you will share my enthusiasm, I thought it might be helpful to collate my favourite breakfast and brunch ideas in one place. Without further ado, here are ten of the best weekend breakfasts. Enjoy!
- This recipe for American Style Pancakes is a weekend staple. Don’t forget you can switch things up a little with the addition of blueberries or even M&Ms. Just sprinkle a few on to the batter as you cook the underside of the pancake.
- The Fluffy Corn and Chilli Pancakes I shared recently are another firm favourite.
- Mr. LA loves these Bacon, Egg and Toast Cups we discovered a while ago via Martha Stewart.
- I’m dying to try Emily’s Elevated Egg McMuffin. There are lots of other great breakfast and brunch ideas on her blog Cupcakes and Cashmere.
- These savoury Salmon and Dill Breakfast Muffins are divine! All of the Leon recipe books are brimming with breakfast inspiration.
- A few years back, I went through a phase of regularly making my own granola. Digging out Jamie Olivers’ Easy Granola Recipe has reminded me what a tasty, simple meal it is.
- I’ve been dreaming of making this Morning Bread Pudding with Salted Caramel Sauce since I first spotted it on Smitten Kitchen a couple of weeks ago. It sounds heavenly!
- I’m intrigued by Nigella’s Breakfast Bruschetta, although I’d be eating this one on my own as avocado isn’t enjoyed by anyone else round here.
- If pushed, I think Mr. LA would cite Eggs in Purgatory as his favourite breakfast of all time, and as an advocate of garlic with every meal, I relish any opportunity to indulge his weakness for this particular dish. We usually follow a recipe from a fun Sopranos cookbook, but Nigella’s is bound to be just as good.
- I’m thinking of giving Joy the Baker‘s Breakfast Nachos a whirl this weekend. They sound delicious.
What’s your favourite weekend breakfast? I love finding new recipes and ideas, so share away!

I love this mushroom on toast recipe. Totally scrummy! I often add Parmesan and extra creme fraiche and do it with pasta for dinner.

Wow such lovely ideas for breakfast, I’m so useless with breakfast ideas! Those egg and bacon cups look so yummy. Thanks for the links to the new food blogs! XxxX http://thesecondhandrose.blogspot.co.uk
I am rather fond of eggs in purgatory at breakfast. You should get yourself a copy of Dorset Cereals Breakfast Book. I got it for my birthday and it is full of fantastic ideas for both quick and more leisurely breakfasts!
